Strawberry plants are growing!
20-08-2018 In calendar week 31 (week commencing 30 July 2018), Beeren Plantproducts started lifting the first fresh plants. Most of these plants will be replanted in nursery beds in preparation for delivery in the spring of 2019. The Elsanta, Sonata, and Malling Centenary varieties have been planted for this year.
In early August, there was a sudden change in the weather resulting in moderate temperatures combined with occasional showers, which ensured optimum conditions for planting. Regardless, irrigation remained very important during these weeks, in part due to the dry conditions in June and July. The weather conditions are currently extremely well-suited for the development of the plants in nursery beds.
