Keep an eye on water levels!
05-08-2018 From May until early August, the temperatures were extremely high and there was barely any rainfall. Ensuring that all crops remained productive and were supplied with enough water represented a significant challenge to many growers
including for us, as irrigating our asparagus crowns was essential this year. Compared with ‘normal’ summers, where occasional irrigation is sufficient, irrigation was an absolute necessity this year. Beeren Plantproducts ensured that all plots received sufficient water by means of several irrigation sessions. This is very important in this period of plant development and growth. Therefore, the crowns developed well and are ready for the final growth phase in the autumn.
Remember to pay attention to the water levels in your own production plots. Creating and maintaining sufficient and stable water levels is of the utmost importance for the growth of your crops for years to come.
